The College, located in Mazengarb Road, northern Paraparaumu, was opened in 1977. The single storey buildings are set in 12 hectares of carefully maintained grounds. The Board and staff have been active in maintaining and upgrading the facilities for our students. As well as carpeted, well-appointed classrooms, the College has a full range of specialist rooms which enable students to experience many curriculum programmes, and allow us to adjust our courses to meet the changing needs of the new National Curriculum and Qualifications. These areas include : • a Graphics suite • a large Gymnasium/Fitness Centre complex • 10 Laboratories (one new senior Chemistry lab opened 2003) • 2 Workshops • 2 Home Economics rooms • Fashion & Design room (opened 2004) • Art complex (completed 2004) • Horticulture complex • Auditorium • Modern Library with computer systems for students • 3 Information Technology suites • Upgraded Administration building • A Special Needs facility (opened 2003) • A new Performing Arts suite (opened 2001) • 39 General Classrooms The regular expansion and upgrade of the Information Technology facilities allows students to have the opportunity to become computer literate using networked PC’s with access to the Internet. Most of our students come from Waikanae and Paraparaumu Beach. However, roll growth in recent years has led to the introduction of an Enrolment Scheme from 2003. This will restrict access to the College for many students living outside the home zone.
