Prize-givings

This has been a week of celebration and one in which we have recognised the tremendous achievements of our Year 11, 12 and 13 students in 3 award ceremonies. On behalf of the Paraparaumu College Board and all staff I would like to congratulate all our award winners and their families. We are very proud of our students and of all that they have achieved. In particular I would like to acknowledge our graduating Year 13s who were celebrated at Southwards last night. This was a fabulous occasion which saw over $465,000 awarded in University Scholarships; many congratulations to all our award winners and thanks to all who attended. Toi Mahara Young Persons Exhibition

This weekend our students are a part of an exhibition at Toi Mahara, Waikanae - It will be open from 2 November  which coincides with the Arts Trail.

This includes work by talented students such as Michael Tanirau, Farin Hadfield, Georgia Doyne, Lola Thompson, Isla Fellows, Charlie Dale-Low and a good many others!!!

As usual it will showcase individual choice and points of view unique to each student.

This also features Farin Hadfield's short film along with other media, which won a prize last year.

We also have some students who have put work for sale into the Kāpiti Arts Trail at Kāpiti Youth Support (KYS) which starts this weekend for the next two weekends.

NCEA Exams commence Tuesday 5 November

Senior students will have received comprehensive information around exams earlier this week.  The link to the document can be found here.

Key points are:

  • arrive at your exam 30 minutes before it is due to start
  • have your exam admission slip with you
  • if you are doing a digital exam, make sure that your device is fully charged and that you know the login details for your your NZQA student account

Good luck to everyone taking exams.

Canteen open all day for exam students

The College Canteen will be open all day for students involved in exams. We will be open from 8:00am to 2.30pm during the exam weeks. A good place to meet up after exams to keep noise away from the exam rooms.

Students  with a credit on Kindo AND are NOT coming back next year are advised to use this credit as this cannot be paid back to a bank account.  For students returning next year, the credit will roll over.

Some basic stationery items eg pens, pencils etc are available for sale for those 'just in case moments'.  Plain water bottles are also available.

Leaving School Magazine

The latest issue of the Leaving School magazine is now available for you to read online – www.oliverlee.co.nz/leavingschool-issue31

This issue contains plenty of interesting information for senior students as they prepare for life after school, whether they go on to further study, start an apprenticeship or join the workforce.  It also has great information on exam tips and wellbeing, student finance and crafting a winning CV.

A reminder that we use our School App and Facebook page for any urgent messages and to highlight student success and we would love you to follow us.  You can find the links at the bottom of this newsletter along with a link to our Instagram page and Youtube.
