CSW Sportsperson of the Year Awards

Last Sunday I was delighted to attend the CSW Sportsperson of the Year awards at Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua.  Paraparaumu College was well-represented with ten students nominated in their respective codes. It was great to have our students recognised and celebrated along with other talented and dedicated rangatahi from across the region. Well done to all our finalists, and congratulations to our code winners:  Elena (Yachting), Trilaine (Waka Ama), Alana (Other Codes - Emerging,  Scootering) and Carter (Student Official).  As well as the individual awards, we received pennants for our Boys 3x3 Basketball, Girls Waka Ama, Boys Swimming, and Coed Swimming teams for their Premiership wins.

Work Ready Kāpiti Awards

Last week the Work Ready Kāpiti Annual Awards took place celebrating the student successes in 2024 recognising youth, colleges, employers, sponsors and funders that have been a part of this year's journey.

55 of our Year 12 Careers Students attended the Employer Speed Meet this year held at college and 33 students completed the Work Ready Passport. Our students who completed the passport (which includes a half an hour interview), were given a certificate by Mayor Janet Holborow.

Special congratulations to Drew for receiving the prestigious Best Work Ready Passport award and to Elijah for receiving the prestigious Employer Meet Star award.

Also, big congratulations to Shekayna and Ofri who performed beautiful solos for the evening entertainment.

NCEA Exams

Senior students continue with their exams next week and these carry on until the end of November.  A reminder that our College Canteen is open all day for students involved in exams from 8:00 am to 2.30 pm.

Homestays

We are still on the lookout for homestays for international students arriving in 2025.  These could be for long or short term stays.  The International Department provides you with ongoing advice and support and homestay families receive $350 per week.

If you are interested or would like more information about hosting a student please email international@pc.school.nz.
