Kia ora koutou

It is great to be back at school this week after a 3 week trip to the UK on bereavement leave, and I would like to extend a huge thank you to Andrea Stonehouse who was Acting Principal during my time away.

This has been another busy week which on Wednesday evening saw our Hospitality and Catering students working with Dionne Ross and Andrea Stonehouse to put on a fabulous restaurant evening. The event gives our students the opportunity to experience what life is like in a professional catering setting, with some working in the kitchen and others taking up front of house responsibilities. Thanks to those parents and caregivers who were able to join us and who, no doubt, enjoyed a fabulous evening.

Our first Junior Parent / Teacher interviews took place this Thursday and provided a wonderful opportunity for our new Year 9 parents to meet their child’s core class and options teachers. We value the 3 way partnership that exists between staff, students and parents and we look forward to seeing more parents and caregivers later in the year as more parent teacher consultations are held. You are always welcome to contact us at any point if you need to talk to a teacher or Dean.

Sports

I am looking forward to hopefully visiting some of our teams that are out next week for summer tournament week.  Just a reminder below to where each code is playing.

Good luck to everyone involved and a huge thank you to our coaches, parents and teachers who are giving up their time to support our rangatahi.  I look forward to hearing how the respective codes perform.

Uniform Refresh

You may remember last year we began a uniform refresh.  Thank you again for all your feedback. Our refresh process is underway and we are at the early stages of developing our refreshed uniform.  We have students involved in this process and we will continue to get their input along the way.  The designs we come up with will be discussed at senior leadership level and then at board level for sign-off.  We have not yet made any final decisions but we will keep you informed as we reach major milestones of this project.

Public Notice Enrolment for 2026

As you are aware Paraparaumu College is governed by an enrolment scheme.

Below is the public notice relating to enrolments for 2026. Enrolment information (forms, prospectus)  will be available on our website shortly after King’s birthday weekend.  We envisage that there will be approximately 20 out-of-zone places available for Year 9, 2026, though this is subject to change depending on the amount of in-zone applications we receive.

Please see the article below for key dates for application for out of zone students.

Hall of Fame

A reminder that we are looking for our next Hall of Fame recipient.  Check out the article below about how to nominate.

We use our School App and Facebook page for any urgent messages and to highlight student success and we would love you to follow us.  You can find the links at the bottom of this newsletter along with a link to our Instagram page and Youtube.

Enjoy the weekend.
