Conferencing Day and the Kāpiti Coast Youth Careers Expo - Wednesday 30 July

Conferencing and Careers Day is being held on Wednesday 30th July (Term 3, Week 3) 2025. There are no timetabled classes on this day and students are not required to wear their school uniform to the conferencing interview or to the expo at Southwards.

Careers and Conferencing Day interview bookings are open from 14 July.

Please go to https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz to make an appointment.

The code for appointments is 555yz.

No bookings are required for the expo at Southwards.  It is open from 9.30-2.30pm.

It is expected that all students in Years 9-12 have a conferencing interview.  Students are encouraged to bring a whānau member to the conference, however, if this is not possible, a friend is welcome to attend the interview as a support person and of course, students are welcome to participate on their own.

Year 13 students are expected to attend the Careers Expo, but they can make direct arrangements with their Tūhono teachers during Tūhono if they wish to discuss anything.

What is Conferencing Day?

Conferencing Day allows students and whānau the opportunity to attend a 15-minute interview with their Tūhono Teacher to engage in open and honest dialogue about the student’s academic performance so far, well-being, attendance, pastoral care record, extra-curricular activities, goal setting and chance to discuss making great subject choices for 2025.  Students will be asked before the interview day to make provisional subject choices in the subject planning section of the website Career Central.

What is the Careers Expo?

At the same time as the conferencing happens, an exciting Careers Expo will be held at Southwards Car Museum from 9.30am -2.30pm.   Students and caregivers are encouraged to attend the Expo before or after their scheduled interview. There will be a mini-van going from school to Southwards and back all day for anyone who needs transport.  A large and varied number of employers, tertiary, industry, service and private training providers will be exhibiting.

Food trucks, a bake sale and a sausage sizzle will be available at the expo for refreshments on the day.
