Pursuant to Section 589 of the Education and Training Act 2020, we have been informed by the PPTA that strike action will begin at 8:30am on Wednesday 20 August 2025 and will end at 4:30pm on the same day. This action will be continuous over that period.

The Board has carefully considered the availability of teaching staff, and unfortunately have decided that as the majority are PPTA members we are unable to provide normal instruction during the strike. Paraparaumu College will therefore be closed for instruction on Wednesday 20 August.

If making alternative arrangements for care is difficult, we can still supervise a small number of students if required. If you have a child under the age of 14 years who needs supervision at the college on this day, please complete this Google Form: https://forms.gle/BJuiqAYVZ8auTJs88  

Please note, there will be limited school buses scheduled on this day for students requiring supervision.

We know that this is inconvenient for parents and students alike. Please be assured that student safety is our main concern.

I also need to inform you that between 15th September and 18th September there will be a series of partial strikes. Each strike will be from 9am to 3:15pm. During those times, PPTA members will not teach, instruct or supervise students in certain year levels but they will continue to teach all other students. We will therefore need to roster home the following year levels on the dates specified below:

15 September - Years 12 and 13

16 September - Year 11

17 September - Year 10

18 September - Year 9
